Frank Pepe Pizzeria Napoletana continues to be regarded as world-famous coal fired, New-Haven style pizza. It all started on Wooster Street in New Haven, CT over 95 years ago and while we now have 11 other locations throughout the northeast, pizza lovers feel the need to make a pilgrimage to the original location. With spring and summer weather well on its way and dine-in availability still being limited due to COVID-19, we wanted to put together a list of our favorite local parks to have a Pepe’s picnic in while in New Haven to enjoy your pie outside! Paul Russo Park
From an accessibility standpoint, Paul Russo Park makes the most sense for those looking to eat their Frank Pepe’s pizza right away. Paul Russo Park is located just three buildings down and one block north from our New Haven storefront. The park is located on the corner of Depalma Court and Chapel Street. The park is idyllic with many benches and open areas to choose from to set up for your picnic!
Long Wharf Park
This location may be a little more than walking distance but a great spot to eat a pizza on a warm spring day. Long Wharf Park is on the western shores of the New Haven Harbor. Watch ships and recreational boats pass by while you enjoy New Haven’s favorite pizza! After your meal, take a walk on the Vision Trail that passes through the Long Wharf Nature Preserve, which is on the south side of the park.
New Haven Green
Alumni of Yale are awfully familiar with this park which is less than a mile from Frank Pepe Pizzeria Napoletana. This park is one of New Haven’s largest parks, and on a nice spring or summer day, you will see many people enjoying the park while keeping their distance from other groups. With three churches on the green, post up and take in the beautiful architecture or sit underneath a tree and enjoy your meal.
Frank Pepe’s Picnic Best Practices
As a business that has called New Haven home for over 95 years, we ask that if you decide to eat our pizza in one of these parks, be sure to remove all your trash.
Furthermore, if you are planning on eating in a nearby park, be sure to ask for extra napkins, paper plates & utensils from our staff! Don’t forget to add a refreshing Foxon Park to your order!
